Edgewater, FL — November 29, 2025.
Hawks Park turned into a glowing winter wonderland Saturday evening as families from across Edgewater gathered for the annual Light Up the Night celebration. The four-hour holiday event, hosted by EDGEfest, marked the official start of the Christmas season — complete with Santa sightings, train rides, hot cocoa, and even a few playful “snow flurries.”
Crowds began arriving well before the 6 p.m. start time, filling the park with excited children, bundled-up families, and plenty of holiday spirit. As the lights came on across the trees and displays, Hawks Park took on a storybook feel, with colorful ornaments, sparkling decorations, and festive scenes creating the perfect backdrop for photos.
Santa himself made a cheerful appearance, greeting kids, posing for pictures, and listening to Christmas wishes. A steady line of families kept the North Pole’s top ambassador busy throughout the night.
One of the biggest attractions was the free train rides, circling through the park and giving children a magical nighttime tour of the holiday light displays. Nearby, tables offering hot cocoa and cookies kept visitors warm, energized, and smiling.
Organizers added a fun surprise with “snow flurries”, giving Florida kids a rare taste of winter magic — and plenty of wide-eyed reactions.
The evening wrapped up on a high note, with families strolling through the park and enjoying the illuminated displays that will remain on nightly throughout December.
Edgewater’s Light Up the Night continues to be one of the most heartwarming hometown traditions of the season — a simple, joyful gathering that brings the community together under the glow of Christmas lights.
